Synchronicity - No Evil Spell Was Cast on You

"[Carl]  Jung defined synchronicity as an 'acausal connecting (togetherness) principle,' 'meaningful coincidence', 'acausal parallelism' or 'meaningful coincidence of two or more events where something other than the probability of chance is involved.'” -  Carl G. Jung (1960),  Synchronicity: An Acausal Connecting Principle , Princeton University Press, 2012, p. 44. So many bad things had been happening to my client. Many took the form of exploding relationships. Since the settings included work, she was concerned. She asked me if witchcraft was taking place. She didn't want to lose her job.  Gently I explained to her Jung's concept that our inner lives shape the world around us. There is a core connection. For that Jung coined the term "synchronicity." No, there had been no spell cast on her. Actually it was her own emotional set which was creating the havoc in her life.  The Eight of Cups - that is, the Walking Away card -

World Card in the Tarot: "You Are the Greatest," Actually "You Were"

How do you go from being a star quarterback, US President or CEO of Disney to, well, a more ordinary life and personal branding? Not easily. The transition usually is not only brutal. It's also confusing.   In John Grisham's novel  "Bleachers"  there is the saga of Neely Crenshaw. He was there in the football big time and then he wasn't. Yeah, an injury in college ended Sports Everything. The book's meme is about being able to let go of that particular former glory and build something new. In the Tarot the potential for putting together the pieces in a different way is signaled by the  World card.  It is the most important of the cards and it comes at the end of the major arcana.  The message that you have started out toward the Next comes when the World card is upright. When it is in reverse, that is upside down, the probability is that you are stuck. Go to most retirement communities and the chatter defaults into the highs of former careers. My hunch i

Data or Your Gut? Both, Of Course (but heavy on the intuition in these upside-down times)

Ask leaders if they go by data or intuition. They will probably answer: both. But in this increasingly volatile uncertain time they are likely to veer more toward their gut.  In my mission to serve you through coaching, spiritual guidance and AI marketing communications, I also use both. However, intuition is the primal force. The data part circles back to doctoral studies at the University of Michigan, legal ones at Harvard Law School and employee development in the Fortune 50. Research, analysis and how to connect the dots were hardwired. Over the years in business I combined those with following in the footsteps of my Eastern European ancestors. As it is put: They had the “gift.” That was to transcend this dimension to find answers. They taught me plenty.  I have also studied psychic intuition, the Tarot and spiritual healing with the giants in Salem, MA and Tucson, AR.  I learn the most from clients. They are generous in sharing their inner life. What I am best at include busines

Tarot's Eight of Cups: Walking Away as Your Position of Strength in Business

It's known as the "Walking Away" card in the Tarot. That is, the Eight of Cups.  And, because it is about loss, there's plenty of strong emotion attached to it. Often that emotion is pain. The cards in the Tarot have multiple messages. There are no "absolute" intepretations. In doing Tarot readings, the message which comes up often in the Eight of Cups applies to a business situation.  That could be a proposed merger, a job offer, a work context, the purchase of real estate and more. What the client has to know is this: You are in a position of strength if you recognize that, yes, you can walk away from that situation. There's more to that message. That is, if you do walk away you probably will emerge with more confidence. One client (identity masked) admitted she was "dying" to have a career change from sales to management. An offer from another industry came her way. It would get her totally into management. The wrench in the works was tha

What's "Mysticism?" - That's What New Client for Tarot Readings Asks

Those of us who grew up Roman Catholic had been blessed with an intuitive sense of the mystical. We believed that there was a dimension beyond planet earth and a force to guide and protect us. We happened to label that "God." In psychic outreach we call that presence "spirit," "universe," "higher self" and more.  In 12-step programs, which are highly spiritual, old timers refer to the essence as "higher power." The 11th step of AA's Twelve Steps goes into great detail about that.  In opposition to spirit is what psychologist Carl Jung determined was a "shadow self." That was jam-packed with poisonous thoughts and provided a platform for the kind of behavior that has been so destructive beginning in the Garden of Eden.  However, any understanding of mysticism which comes so easily to some of us is difficult to grasp for others. That dawned on me when a new client who was in a lot of pain was reaching out. They asked me to

Trying to Sort It Out: Yes, Generative AI Can Provide Tarot Readings

"I repurposed the article I wrote for you on X." If I tell a communications client that about content I had created for them, come on, there will be a blank stare. X, the new name Elon Musk conjured up for iconic Twitter, might be fascinating. But, as yet and maybe never does it have any association with a social network. So, I will have to explain to the client that X is really the "old Twitter." Buzz is out there that Musk chose to rename Twitter X because he wants to leverage it into a fintech payment platform and more. Yes, X could help do that. I would conduct financial transactional business with X. Not Twitter. But, as  LinkedIn News  makes clear 15 years of brand value can go poof. In essence, when it comes to branding Musk has to "start from scratch." That will require lots of heavy lifting to acquire brand recognition. Lots of money too. It also entails risk. Business operates to manage risk carefully. When architect of law firm Dentons' gl

Tarot Readers: Yes, We Could Be Replaced by ChatGPT

Recently I downsized my communications boutique and shifted to investing more resources in my Tarot reading business. You bet, I saw generative AI coming for both the grunt and plum assignments in communications.  That was so obvious. I keyed into the ChatGPT a request for a branding promo for law firm Paul Weiss (which had been a client a year ago but was not at the time). What popped out - and immediately - were options which I might not have been able to conjure up agonizing at the computer for days.  That brilliance continues. Here is what popped out today from a ChatGPT prompt for Paul Weiss branding: "Paul Weiss: Where Legal Excellence Meets Innovation." "Navigating the Law, Empowering Your Success: Paul Weiss." "Your Trustworthy Legal Partner: Paul Weiss." "Paul Weiss: Advocating for Your Rights, Every Step of the Way." "Precision, Proficiency, Paul Weiss." "Beyond Boundaries, Inside the Law: Paul Weiss."
