Synchronicity - No Evil Spell Was Cast on You

"[Carl] Jung defined synchronicity as an 'acausal connecting (togetherness) principle,' 'meaningful coincidence', 'acausal parallelism' or 'meaningful coincidence of two or more events where something other than the probability of chance is involved.'” - Carl G. Jung (1960), Synchronicity: An Acausal Connecting Principle, Princeton University Press, 2012, p. 44.

So many bad things had been happening to my client. Many took the form of exploding relationships. Since the settings included work, she was concerned. She asked me if witchcraft was taking place. She didn't want to lose her job.

Gently I explained to her Jung's concept that our inner lives shape the world around us. There is a core connection. For that Jung coined the term "synchronicity." No, there had been no spell cast on her. Actually it was her own emotional set which was creating the havoc in her life.

The Eight of Cups - that is, the Walking Away card - came up. I asked her, "Do you have the courage to leave behind all the resentments you have about the people, places, and things in your life?"

The turnaround wasn't immediate and it never really got traction. In fact, her situations worsened. She was put on a PIP (Proposal for Improvement of Performance) at her job. I asked her if she was ready, as they say in spiritual programs, to "drop the rock." That is, the hardened hate she had been lugging around.

Through the Tarot we took a long look at the sources of such darkness. Bit by bit there were bits of light entering. I recommended she join a 12-step program such as Emotions Anonymous or CoDependents Anonymous. They are free. Also they are spiritually oriented.

That was two years ago. This woman has transformed just enough to halt the carnage in her life. But she remains reluctant to have hope that she can reset her interior to create an outer reality full of harmony and joy. Misery has been her comfort zone. She is not atypical.
