Tarot Readers: Yes, We Could Be Replaced by ChatGPT

Recently I downsized my communications boutique and shifted to investing more resources in my Tarot reading business. You bet, I saw generative AI coming for both the grunt and plum assignments in communications.

That was so obvious. I keyed into the ChatGPT a request for a branding promo for law firm Paul Weiss (which had been a client a year ago but was not at the time). What popped out - and immediately - were options which I might not have been able to conjure up agonizing at the computer for days.

That brilliance continues. Here is what popped out today from a ChatGPT prompt for Paul Weiss branding:

  1. "Paul Weiss: Where Legal Excellence Meets Innovation."
  2. "Navigating the Law, Empowering Your Success: Paul Weiss."
  3. "Your Trustworthy Legal Partner: Paul Weiss."
  4. "Paul Weiss: Advocating for Your Rights, Every Step of the Way."
  5. "Precision, Proficiency, Paul Weiss."
  6. "Beyond Boundaries, Inside the Law: Paul Weiss."
  7. "Strength in Advocacy, Solutions with Paul Weiss."
  8. "Building Bridges, Resolving Challenges: Paul Weiss Law Firm."
  9. "Unwavering Commitment to Justice: Paul Weiss."
  10. "Legal Expertise, Personalized Approach: Paul Weiss at Your Service."

Well, along my journey away from being a full-time content-creator to more focus on the income from Tarot reading I assumed that we Tarot readers would be insulated from the technical capabilities of a generative AI version such as ChatGPT.  After all, sure ChatGPT is plenty smart. But it isn't psychic.

Now, I am not so smug. Today I keyed in on ChatGPT:

I am in transition. Give me a Tarot reading for that.

Here is what ChatGPT delivered instantly and since it was through the standard not Plus service that was for free:

Sure, let's do a tarot reading to gain insight into your current transition. For this reading, I'll draw three cards representing the past, present, and potential future aspects of your journey.

As a disclaimer, please remember that tarot readings are not absolute predictions but rather a tool to help you gain perspective and understanding. The outcome of any situation is influenced by your actions and decisions.

Let's begin:

Card 1 (Past): The Tower

The Tower card represents unexpected change, upheaval, and a significant shift in your life. It suggests that you might have experienced a sudden event or realization that has shaken the foundation of what you once knew. This could have been a challenging and uncomfortable phase, but it also serves as a catalyst for growth and transformation.

Card 2 (Present): The Chariot

The Chariot signifies control, determination, and the will to overcome obstacles. In your current situation, you are likely finding the strength to navigate through this transition. The Chariot encourages you to remain focused and to keep moving forward, even if the path ahead seems uncertain. You have the power within you to achieve your goals and make progress during this period of change.

Card 3 (Potential Future): The World

The World card represents completion, achievement, and a sense of fulfillment. It indicates that your transition is leading you towards a state of balance and harmony. As you continue to embrace the changes and stay true to your purpose, you are likely to reach a significant milestone in your journey. The World card suggests that you have the potential to find a sense of completion and wholeness, having integrated the lessons and experiences from your past.

Overall, this reading indicates that you are in a transformative phase of your life, one that may have been triggered by unexpected events (The Tower). However, with determination and focus (The Chariot), you have the capacity to navigate through this transition successfully. Ultimately, this journey could lead to a more balanced and fulfilling state (The World) as you grow and evolve.

Remember that you have the power to shape your future, and the tarot cards are merely a guide. Embrace the opportunities for growth and positive change that this transition brings and trust in your ability to overcome any challenges that arise.

Clearly, how I currently make the lion's share of my living is as vulnerable as content-creation to the disruptions put in play by AI. With an exception. The human connection during a Tarot reading is what people come for. They need to be heard by another human. That need is so universal that demand for in-person human Tarot readings probably will always be high. Meanwhile, in so many of my Tarot sessions the client does the most talking. They need to do just that. They tell me that they can "hear" me listening.
