Starting Your Life Over Again - Even in the Middle of the Day
The mystical tarot deck starts off with The Fool card. That sets the tone for the 78 card journey of self-awareness.
In medieval times The Fool was the most trusted member of the king's court. That's because The Fool kept royalty in reality. The rest of the court was preoccupied with pursuing their own agendas through the power of the king or simply sucking up. Of course, on a particular day the king might not be receptive to reality. The Fool could be banished to the tower or worse.
Often life does exactly what the tarot does: Create a self-awareness that can't be ducked.
It was in prison that Richard Nixon's dirty-tricks lawyer Chuck Colson had a psychic shift. He envisioned the person he could be. And he decided to tell the world about it. He started his life over as a spiritual minister.
Post-prison Wall Street tycoon Michael Milken also started out on a new life. It was philanthropy.
After a serious accident when intoxicated and a DUI a middle-aged woman became aware she was not that person who wound up in the hospital and before a judge. She has been without alcohol since.
One of the top 10 lawyers in the US John Tarantino went through the ordeal of his wife's terminal cancer. What emerged was a self he hadn't tapped into previously: global inspirational speaker. Right out of the gate his first Ted Talk "Redemption Stories" has had more than 25 million views. More recently Tarantino delivered a talk in Belfast "THINK: Manifestation."
Also in the legal sector is another story. That is about intensifying competition. Chair of Paul Weiss Brad Karp transformed from a signature charm persona to a warrior. He has established the law firm in new lands and stocked those outposts with talent he raided.
But re-starting a life doesn't have to be so dramatic. On a daily basis those I conduct tarot readings for stop mid-day. They may have lost their sense of self because of a harsh remark from a superior or because of a child who can't seem to be reached. They manifest what could be. Then they're back at it, with a fresh belief in themselves as capable of managing what they can and leaving the rest to the universe.
That pause is symbolized in the tarot by the Four of Swords. Swords represent cognitive processes. Those are put at rest, for the moment. That self-defeating chatter in the head can be silenced.
In this volatile era, we don't have the option of getting stuck. We can release immediately from that stagnant force field. Our life can start all over again.
