Volatility as New Normal - Five of Cups Symbolizes Extreme Danger of Being Caught in Time Warp

 Time, at least in terms of a public life, could have been suspended for billionaire Leon Black. That began clocking in around June 2022. First the time warp was set in play by his association with convicted sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein. Then it could have become a permanent force field through a lawsuit by former mistress Guzel Ganieva. Unfortunately Black added to it by tossing his own legal grenades. 

But currently Crain Currency only devotes 48 words to that strange interlude in an article covering Black's latest financial venture. It starts out:

" ... [Black] has opened a branch of his family office in Abu Dhabi, expanding his global reach.The billionaire’s Middle East outpost, called Scimitar, is investing with a locally based team led by financier Asad Hussaini, who was previously with a firm focused on real estate opportunities in the Gulf region." 

It is likely in the short term future articles will sum up that bit of the past in even fewer words. Or not mention it at all. 

In this volatile era, our experience of time has changed radically. That is manifested in the very language of these times. That includes: "moving on," "not being stuck" and "regret being a mere fantasy about what could be." In doing Tarot readings I discuss the needed psychic shift through use of the Five of Cups, sometimes called the Spilled Milk Card.


Displayed  in the card is a human being bent over in despair over what is no longer in the now. That eliminates the ability to see in the distance on the left what is unfolding in the present. 

After laying low in terms of a public persona for the appropriate period Black has been back in public. The re-entrance is underscored with ongoing new news about financial goings-on. Fresh news pushes out former news, much like new material on search engines lowers the rankings of former material. 

The continuum of new developments also distances him from Apollo, which might be thought of as the "scene of the crime" at least in public perception. 

Intead of creating storylines of Black linked with Apollo the juicy chatter focuses on, for example, the current CEO Marc Rowan's living separately for years from his designer wife. When it comes to business the media has been consumed with Apollo's M&A activity, the legalities managed by law firm Paul, Weiss. Vibrations get higher for both.

One wonders if Black's obituary will even feature in the opening paragraph the rapidly fading Epstein-Ganieva phase of his brilliant career. In his early 70s, he has plenty of time to keep piling on fresh developments in finance. Given the anti-past values of this new time the obituary genre will itself have to change conventions.
