Episode 4 of "Feud: Capote vs The Swans" - Powerhouse Memes, Straight from The Tarot

 In loss is liberation.

There is redemption through giving to others.

And forgiveness heals.

Those are some of the key themes from Episode 4 of the Hulu series "Feud: Capote vs. The Swans."

They mirror the messaging of the memes from Tarot readings.

A core experience of a Tarot session is the ability to let go. It may be a rigid mindset, an illusion or an "ought." Be free of that and there is the lightness of spirit. Those stuck, for example, become effortlessly successful. Those addicted to loser relationships stop the pattern. Those who run learn they can endure pain.

In the "Feud" episode the characters who have the wisdom and the strength to recognize that the "problem" is not Truman Capote per se - it is their needing to be part of someone else's glam world - are freed up from that tragic flaw. An example is Lee Radziwell. She implores Slim to exit the revenge force field. In contrast, estranged lover Jack is being eaten alive inside by what Capote represents.

Another powerhouse meme is unlocking the self during a collapse in order to transcend all that and reach out. Capote finds a haven after the Swans shut him out by helping Jack's damaged daughter get launched in how to earn a good living. That bit of redemption keeps Capote going. It's one of the few things left he can hang onto. It buys him time.

And there is Babe Paley. She is working through the shock that soon cancer will end her journey in this dimension. She is putting together a kind of travel plan to the whatever by forgiving what seems unforgivable. That is this: Her husband Bill and her close friend Slim are having a sexual affair. She wants Bill not to be alone after her death and gives him "permission" to transform what's going on into a supportive companionship. Of course, this is a stunner for both Bill and Slim.

The pull force in the Capote saga, just like in Tarot sessions, is that intentionality, motivation and actual behavior are all over the place. There it is: human nature, including what psychologist Carl Jung labeled our "shadow side."  Those who can rein it in, like Babe, get to have a smoother ride. Those who lack impulse control like Capote not only get roughly dragged into myriad hells. They suffer plenty on the way down. For example, he loses his writing talent.

In addition, the series is a must-see for anyone on the fence about whether it's time to do what's necessary to deal with substance abuse. Capote can't, although he tries. The reason? Slim put it this way: Capote is incapable of change. To get on the other side of addiction, you have to change everything.

Yes, Tarot readings pick up addiction. Two years ago the card "screamed" that there was a secret. The man confided problem drinking. It was a while but he did go to the ER, say he was in trouble with alcohol and needed help. He got that help.
