The Big Plays - Extreme Self-Confidence from The Tarot

My, my, how optimistic so many have become. But, come on, we really don't know about the macros, do we. At least not with any certainty. With a few days of a horrific Dow run that euphoria could mutate back among The Scared into you know what.

However, whether it is good times or bad times there are the players who keep sizing up the opportunities, pounce on them and don't look back when this or that doesn't pan out. And don't turn back when clouds darken.

In the Tarot we call them The Magicians.

They transform what is into not only profits but solid new platforms on which to keep the good times rolling, no matter what. Their think abundance. Never scarcity. No chasing after crumbs for them. That is, keeping eyes lowered on the bits of action businesses or players leave behind. Incidentally, CNBC is featuring a video on how the mindset of scarcity can trigger reckless spending habits. Being The Sacred is downright counterproductive.

The wonderful development is that these crazy times are shaking loose willingness to change, even among the don't-rock-the-boat kinds. I'm seeing more and more of that in my Tarot readings.

Not so long ago they were in some form of middle management and balking. Maybe even dying a slow death from the petty pressures.

Then the Ah-ha moment. No more filling with fear about the shrinking white collar sector. They sold everything and started up enterprises. Usually multiple ones. So far they are doing better than just making it.

On a grander scale are the Berkshire Hathaways and Apollos which never default into doom-and-gloom. Let's put it this way: When stuff shifts they view the whatevers from different angles. For example, the late Charlie Munger knew what to do about crypto, at least back then. Apollo, when Marc Rowan took over, veered way from a single-minded focus on private equity and took over lanes for credit through pricey acquisitions.

There is also law firm Paul, Weiss. Law has become an international combat sport. Paul, Weiss knows that and has been developing a major presence in London. It has made heavy investments in poaching talent. And it is betting that money even though overall legal services is in a down phase. If the Netflix "The Crown" series continues, maybe Paul, Weiss chair Brad Karp could have a cameo role.

You bet, figure out the plays. Then make them big. Insight from the Tarot provides the extreme self-confidence to do that.
