"May December" - Just Like the Rest of Us, Here Are 3 Deeply Flawed Human Beings Who Have No Idea Who They Are

Streaming on Netflix the 2023 movie "May December" takes sneaky twists and turns. Based on the real-life story of Mary Kay Letourneau it opens up 3 human beings to each other - and to themselves. Like the rest of mankind they are 1) deeply flawed and 2) totally unaware of what they are about.

As many recall, Letourneau, a teacher, fell in love with a student, had sex with him, became pregnant with his child, went to prison where she gave birth to their child, and later married him.

Depicted in this film is what their lives might have been like post-marriage and settling into the tedious routine of everyday life. An actress, who will play the predatory in a movie, comes to visit to "get to know" the woman as well as what her life has become. At the get-go, she bears witness to a box of excrement being delivered to the house. That has happened before.

What unfolds are cracks in the personas all 3 have manufactured. They have a peek into who they are and where they are in life. There is no going back to the previous myopia.

And that exactly is the messaging of the Tarot cards. As the article on the Tarot in The New York Times explains, reading the Tarot cards is a tool for self-awareness. And, yes, you can learn to do your own readings. Here is my detailed guide to DIY Tarot readings.

Not knowing who we are can put us on the path of so many bad choices. In my in-person Tarot sessions I nudge clients to look deeply into the cards themselves. Then I have them tell themselves what they experience. That could be their first real encounter with their self.
