Now That Banks Are on Our Minds - George Bailey Was So Blessed, He Knew He Belonged

 "I don't belong."

That's typically the lament which surfaces when the Ace of Pentacles comes up in a Tarot reading. At least that’s a core interpretation by Jessica Dore in the 2021 guide “Tarot for Change.” That is, the longing to be a part of.

Not feeling like you belong can be among the most painful human experiences. That's one reason why the film "It's a Wonderful Life" continues to resonate. That dates way back to1946 when it was produced.

In essence, George Bailey, a building and loan banker, has been blessed. He knows he belongs to the community of Beford Falls and its economic future, the financial institution’s customers, his family, and his belief system which includes acceptance of what isn't evidence-based. That sense of being a part of is what helps save him (along with the nudges of Clarence Oddbody) when he stumbles into despair.

During the Tarot reading clients also can pick up on what bonds them. There is always attachment. They just have to recognize that kind of force field.

For instance, the sense of belonging could come through their work. Currently with the dominance of life-job balance thinking, it’s verboten to admit feeling that you feel at one with the universe when developing new models on Wall Street or planning the strategy for a criminal trial. But that bonding is as real and as sustaining as what Bailey experienced.

Or it could be the four-legger you rescued from the animal shelter. Here is my Arizona. The dental work I got for her has extended her life for about six years.

There are also the connections you create with planet earth when you garden.

The good news is that you don’t need to encounter the Ace of Pentacles in a formal Tarot reading. On your own, you can embrace what makes you experience being a part of the whole. Those Ah-Ha moments will pop up from your unconscious if you open yourself. Then identify what brings you joy.

Yes, There Are Content Workers - Many of Them Are Freelancers

Not so long ago, those watching his back would have nudged him to go by the moniker "consultant." The Long Half Life of The Feel-Good (from doing good)

The for-sales could have run on Craigslist for 16 more days.  Then came that Ah-Ha moment. Given the low prices you get for used furniture, even though in excellent condition, why not just donate the barely used innovative bed set, artsy storage chest/prism, snow-removal equipment and karma icons.  I knocked on a neighbor's door. When I described the goodies her face lit up. You bet, she said, her husband would be right down the stairs to bring up their new stuff.  Their five-year-old would tag along with some of her stuffed animals to place immediately in the chest.  That family is delighted. The glow spills over to me. And I need that as I continue to put together the logistics for relocating back to Sierra Vista, Arizona.
