Tarot Readings About Work - Tough to Soften Brutal Realities

For the majority of employees in the US and Canada there is intense anxiety about holding onto their jobs or even contract assignments. That also is the dominant feeling set among owners of small businesses. The latter are preoccupied if the enterprises will fail.

Of course, they come to a Tarot reading in hopes of good news. Rarely is that happeining in 2023.

Most often the Two of Swords card pops up. That features a woman who is wearing a blindfold. She refuses to see what is happening. In her hands are two swords. One sends the message of strategic smarts. The other of rigid mindsets which impede figuring out the dynamics of how to continue to make a good living in this volatile economy full of uncertainties.

Once the Two of Swords introduces its messaging, it is challenging for me to transmit that to clients. Typically, they are so locked in fear that they are not open to solutions for ensuring they can continue to financially survive, no matter what is happeng in the workplace or their industry.

A common recommendation - and which most balk at - is developing multiple sources of income. It has become downright reckless to bet the ranch on the day job or even the business they started and are operating.

Instead they want to remain in the status quo of the 20th century: holding down a single job or being a business owner. It is diffcult for them to absorb how easily that can be taken away from them. And no longer will they be able to pay those bills, at least not on time.

My responsibility is to deliver this unsettling message in ways that don't push clients to harden into defensiveness. When in that mindset they can't be strategic.

That no one can be one-dimensional about earning a good living is the bad news of the second decade of the 21st century. It pains me to have to deliver that message.
