Startup Bloom Teaches How To Be Your Own Therapist - Genova Tarot Startup Teaches DIY Tarot Readings

"New York-based startup Bloom, for example, is offering members video sessions to be "their own therapist," where they address issues like sleep, stress and anxiety."  LinkedIn News, November 12, 2022.

In these uncertain times with over-the-top stress about getting, holding, and moving on to better work, who doesn't need therapy. But even with health insurace, it can be expensive. The co-pay is usually steep.

Another form of DIY help and healing - with self-insight thrown in - is the Tarot. That is the mystical medium which believers contend connect you to your subconsicous and the collective unconscious. Most of what triggers everything from emotional distress to shooting-yourself-in-the-foot behavior is buried beneath the surface of our everyday thinking and feeling.

Ever since The New York Times saluted the Tarot in April 2021 as a tool for self-awareness, more of you are trying it out.

An option is DIY. You can do that in five steps:

Here is the short version. But it is all you need.

Purchase Tarot Deck. Since you are a beginner, start out with the deck most newbies use. That is the Smith-Waite Tarot Deck. On Amazon it costs $17.96. Here you can order. Decks are also available for sale in metaphysical shops such as Strega in Sierra Vista, Arizona. Call those shops ahead and see if they stock the cards.

Seek Access to Guides about Interpretations. There are no absolute interpretations of how to read any of the 78 Tarot cards. That's the strength of this tool for self-awareness by opening the door to the unconscious or what is sometimes called the subconscious. All readings happen through the unique intersection between that particular human being and the universe.

However, when beginning it can be useful to sample interpretations. A guidebook recommended for beginners is "Kitchen Table Tarot" by Melissa Cynova. On Amazon for Kindle the price is $12.99 and for paperback $14.99.

The internet is another source of information - free. Just key in the title of the card such as "Wheel of Fortune" and add keyword "Tarot." Up will pop interpretations from a number of cultures around the world.

Surrender. Nothing should stand between you and the universe. That means you have to give up your usual guarded mindset and surrender to the invisible. This exercise allows you to enter that state of letting go:

Imagine a blue blue sky. Look up at it.

Put your hand around the string of a bright yellow ballon.

Let the balloon go.

Believe in What You Are Discerning from Reading Your Tarot Card. Again, there is no absolute "right" interpretation. Or even a standard one.

To start the reading you:

Shuffle the cards until you feel they have been mixed up enough

With your left hand, lay them in three piles, left to right.

To get in touch with vibrations extend hands over the cards.

Choose one or more cards.

Do One-Card Pull Every Day. This is also helpful when you need to get centered. Eventually you can work up to complex spreads such as Past Present and Future or Where I Am Now, Where I want to be, and How the Tarot Recommends I get there.

If you decide you prefer to have a reading done for you, I am available by phone, email, and Zoom (if you set it up). We can start with the one-card pull. (Please contact for an appointment - email janegenova374@gmail.com and texting at 203-468-8579.
