Fox's 30th Anniversary: Roger Who?

Many businesspeople, like myself, had been in awe of the strategic genius of Roger Ailes at Fox.

In network broadcast/cable, an industry that crowed about awards, he told staff not to chase them. Forgot all that. His focus was on boosting ratings.

He thumbed his nose at America's Puritan ethos, featuring lots of female long legs on air.

There were no apologies for the strong opinions that became Fox's signature.

Also, he had as his personal PR representative Bob Dilenschneider, himself an iconoclast.

Yet, today, the 30th anniversary of Fox, which kicked off on October 7, 1996, Ailes wasn't celebrated.

In the summer of 2016, Ailes came crashing down. In the Tarot that kind of catastrophic downfall is depicted by the Tower card.

On July 6th of that year former Fox executive Gretchen Carlson filed a lawsuit alleging sexual harassment and wrongful termination. The interesting feature of that initial complaint, which caught the attention of media, was that the defendant was Ailes the individual.

On July 11th, it was official: The Murdoch Boys had called in law firm Paul, Weiss to investigate.

Paul, Weiss recently had developed a reputation for investigative work. In 2015 it had probed Deflategate. Although the report cast shade on Tom Brady and the Patriots, that law firm eventually has been able to hold on to representing the NFL. Currently partner Brad Karp owns that territory.

Well, it is known that in these investigations sometimes those hiring the law firms might inform them to take a prosecutorial approach. We don't know if that happened with the Paul, Weiss probe. But, soon enough Ailes stepped down.

Obviously, Ailes' track record didn't save him. Neither did it save other strategic geniuses such as Harvey Weinstein and Matt Lauer.

In tarot sessions my mission is to prevent any feeling of being special. I know well that such a force field can set in play professional ruin. That can happen in contexts with much lower stakes than those at Fox. It could start - and often does - with a mother telling the male child how prized they are. Throughout life they might run with that, alienating people and destroying opportunities.

You deserve success, deep connections and inner peace.

Let’s Remove what's blocking that with an Inspired Tarot Reading.
