Frauds Promising to Change the World: But What about How World Is Changing on Its Own and Your Retirement

 Off to the slammer. That's where visionaries Elizabeth Holmes, who was going to upend healthcare, and Bernie Madoff, who heralded that for investing, wound up. They were false prophets whose fraud could have impinged on your retirement.

And now after those disclosures, you might wonder if the bad guys you have to watch out for will include the front lines of AI. That's especially if the bots go rogue and plunder civilization as we know it. Good lawyers, as with the fatal contamination of peanut butter, can put business leaders in prison. What did they know and when did they know it?

Lots to think about. But the current reality is that we have more to fear from how the world is changing on its own. Maybe mankind did get that started, as with urban density and fossil fuels. But the universe is running with the consequences of all that on its own. In the tarot that is symbolized by the Tower card.

Where will you retire? At least to what's affordable, sustainable and non-life threatening. Maybe rule out Portugal, Philippines, Mexico and cheaper parts of California. There earthquakes are not only possible. But they have become more deadly because, with infrastructure buildup, there are fewer places to run and survive. 

In addition, what some label "climate change" is taking over sooner than anticipated. The heat as well as the supply/cost of water is making Phoenix and Tucson less attractive for the years after ending a career. And how about those wildfires throughout the southwest?

Texas? Don't those floods seem more virulent and frequent? 

Wichita, Kansas, which is mighty affordable, is experiencing the kinds of tornadas which damage property, driving up insurance price.

In just America, each year more than 4 million retire.

Because the world is changing - and fast - an emerging trend could be not to relocate. Okay, the Northeast Corridor is expensive. But your house has been paid for and since you drive less or not at all you can blow off that high car insurance cost in the New York Metro area. The weather could be bearable. The tornados are mild.

In guiding those near retirement age I notice a lack of adventure in how you manifest your own future. It's more the mindset of Choose Your Poison.
