Matters of the Heart: 3 Big Dealbreakers + Not Having a Car

Romantic love, originating 900 years ago, remains important in the lives of those in all generations. The Lovers card is a major one in the tarot. 


But, as we all know, those matters of the heart can cause authentic heartbreak. 

Matchmaking firm Tawkify recently wanted to get to the bottom of what can disrupt that journey toward finding a soulmate. It conducted a survey. That disclosed 3 key dealbreakers:

Mentioning a former lover - 67%

Still living with parents - 42%

Being unemployed - 29%

The jobless factor is the most complicated. 

Many will have empathy with you if you have lost a job. After all, layoffs have become standard - even multiple ones in a short time. 

It gets in the way of dating, though, especially for men. They tend to lose confidence and self-esteem is a necessary platform for navigating the ups and downs of the mating process. 

Also dating requires money. Unemployment makes money tight, maybe too tight for the expenses involved in buying into the experiences of getting to know one another. Even going for a cup of coffee can set you back several bucks.  

In addition, what can knock a man out of the box even before reaching out is this: the stigma of joblessness. That hovers over 68% of men but only 5% of women. 

In tarot readings I have noticed a fourth factor. That is this: Not having a car can be a turn-off. 

Sure, this is the era of e-bikes, scooters and smaller motorcycles. And getting a driver's license is no longer a rite of passage. But, the expectation remains that someone adult enough to pursue mating will be able to afford car ownership. Of course, the exception is being based in a major urban area like New York City or Chicago with excellent public transit. In readings for those in such locations I have heard happy endings to love stories such as hopping on the subway in Manhattan to have a civil marriage conducted.

Currently humans intending to pursue romance with another human have to understand that "check lists" have become standard. The party you're interested in probably has made such a list and will be checking it twice, long after the holiday season.

 Paul Weiss has been the tipping point.  The Executive Order by the current administration - the third issued - got to us. How vulnerable we all are to power.
