Religion: But Suppose You Don't Want Eternal Life

So, what's religion for? I assumed it's to guide the heavily flawed human species to be more ethical and compassionate. But recently I have had that assumption tested.

A student of religion, in addition to being a consumer, recently I had attended an evangelical church and a bible reading group at a Roman Catholic Church. I pick up that the goal of righteous living is eternal life.

Right now I am not interested in achieving eternal life, even if it delivers bliss. My focus is to be inspired to cope with life as it is. Currently I'm finding darkness growing. To keep going I need to see the good. Holding on while operating in this present dimension - planet earth - is plenty challenging.

Meanwhile, so many of my clients for tarot readings are lost. That's symbolized by the Nine of Wands in the tarot. The human on that card is confused, losing confidence that there is a way back to feeling okay about life and making the right moves.

So, my advice to religious leaders: Give us the wisdom and strength to navigate the struggles we face in 2025 here on earth. Leave eternal life out off the menu of sermon topics. Actually, for some the suffering has been so profound that they don't welcome any continuity of consciousness post-death.

Thriving in confusing times starts from the inside.
