Risk Is Risky - That's Why The Fool Card is First in the Tarot

"Harvard MBA grads aren't getting jobs like they used to" - Insider, December 28, 2023

Overall, employer demand for MBA graduates has fallen off. And that's even for those with that degree from a prestigious institution like Harvard Business School. Right now in hiring season only 86% of Harvard MBA graduates received job offers, compared to 95% in 2022.

Over and over, advice on professional anonymous networks such as Fishbowl Consulting warns not to invest in matriculating for the pricey MBA degree, with the exception of maybe a shot at a career change.  And that's only for a shot.

Employers are buying skills, not an academic credential. Reddit Career Guide is full of laments from the BA/BS Class of 2022 who remain without that first job, mostly because they simply lack the right experience.

The obvious takeaway is this: There is risk, plenty of it, in professional life. As well as everything else.

That's the overall message of The Fool card in the Tarot. The deck opens with that major card. Yes, risk is embedded in everything. But the specific message is that is you are in sound spiritual shape - connected to the universe - you can navigate risk, all kinds.

That is twofold:

1) You will be wise about calculating risk. If your research shows that the MBA is no longer yielding the tradition ROI, you will do a lot more investigating before enrolling. That includes figuring out other options to achieve your career goals.

2) If the risk doesn't pan out as you expected you will be able to bounce back. That is, you will not lose total self-confidence. This is a setback. It needn't be experienced as a catastrophe.
