Fool Card - Breaking Free from America's Problem-Obsessed Culture (and leaving it to the gods, spirit, universe, higher power)
Can you handle a lightness of being? Not many of the clients for my Tarot-reading practice can. The majority are locked into a culture of problem/solution. For them there is no other way to be here on planet earth.
Soon enough The Fool card in the Tarot will come up in readings with them. That card is from the major arcana and its message is: Re-capture the exuberance, energy and innocence of the time before you adulted.
Usually you were able to hold on to your joyful, being-in-the-moment self for a bit after your formal education. Then life tended to eat away at more and more of that. Come age 30, you experience the world darkly. Soon enough you're on professional anonymous networks ranging from Reddit Career Guidance to Fishbowl Consulting to Blind wailing about what is - or how you see it that way.
One DIY exit ramp from a woe fixation is to simply change the channel in your head. The shift is from being preoccupied with what you determine is quite wrong to an existential shrug. That I call the "So" mindset.
The "So" meme aligns with the wisdom of the ages, including the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. That is, surrender to win. Turn whatever over to the universe, spirit or the gods or a higher power. That's exactly what the ancients did. For mysteries, for tragedies, for sources of hope, they surrendered to the gods. For boomers our mascot Alfred E. Neuman captured that in his mantra: What, Me Worry.
