The Tarot - Of Course, You Want to Know about "Objectivity"
"What goes by the name of objectivity is only the result of our awareness being drawn along certain channels, in quite specific directions, by forces we are not even aware of." - That has been observed by Peter Kinsley in the book "Reality."
Mary K. Greer quotes Kinsley in her own book "21 Ways to Read a Tarot Card." Here you can order from Amazon.
What we consider "objectivity" is an artificial construct. Somewhere along the line we were given the rules of the road for making supposed "objective" statements, assessments, and decisions. When enough people, especially those with power, agree on those guidelines they become standard. Not that they are necessarily connected with reality. Or valid.
But, based on doing readings with Tarot cards, I have developed a deep trust of what can be discerned by opening ourselves to the myticism of those 78 cards. The trick is opening ourselves. Before I begin a Tarot reading I recommend this exercise:
Imagine a blue blue sky.
Stare into it.
Put your hand around the string of what you imagine as a bright yellow balloon.
Let the balloon go.
Connect with the balloon as it floats.
Then there is usually surrender. The normal guarded defensive thought patterns melt away.
We are ready to begin the reading.
