Love Yourself

It was a rare flashback to Loretta Lynch's June 2016 meeting on the tarmac at Phoenix airport with Bill Clionton. At the time she had been US Attorney General. Former US President Clinton was still a force in politics. His wife Hillary Clinton was running for the US Presidency and was being investigated for her use of email when US Secretary of State.

The optics made that get-together a scandal. But the media, which determines who has made a comeback from whatever and who hasn't, has not covered that for years. The exception is the docudrama "The Comey Rule" about the rise and fall of former FBI Director James Comey. As many recall, US President, Donald Trump fired Comey. On Netflix since 2021 the film has a snippet about the tarmac meeting. Lynch is positioned as a tarnished brand.

Overall, though, the media has allowed Lynch to rebrand. She is a woman of color.

That reset has happened in private practice. Wisely, she took the off-ramp from government service. Her new start has been as a partner in prestigious law firm Paul Weiss.

There she heads the defense legal teams on prominent litigation. Those lawsuits include racial bias lawsuits "Christine Crawford, et al. v McDonald's USA" and "Brian Flores, et al. v NFL et al." She is also in charge of the diversity audit at Amazon. Recently she delivered the commencement address at Harvard Law School. She had earned her JD there.

At Paul Weiss she, along with brandname lawyer of color Ted Wells, has symbolized the law firm's commitment to diversity. That value is prized currently. And that might have been a factor in Lynch's successful comeback.

There is no one absolute way to engineer a return to the aura of a powerhouse brand. But, as I recommend in intuitive coaching, what counts a lot is the ability to forgive oneself for what are charactrerized out there as errors in decision-making. That means those taking the heat aren't giving off the vibes of self-hate. Such vibes, of course, invite torment.
