Fear - Beyond That Can Be Opportunity

"JPMorgan Chase & Co. temporarily suspended share buybacks and reported second-quarter results that fell short of analysts’ estimates, driving the stock as much as 5.1% lower. " - Bloomberg, July 14, 2022.

The hurricane that the financial empire's head Jamie Dimon had been predicting has started. Headwinds include the slump in its investment banking. For JPMorgan that represented a 55% decline. Dimon has set aside $428 million for loans which might sour. Meanwhile, as The Wall Street Journal reports, throughout much of Big Banking there is a slowdown.

As an intuitive career coach what is palpable to me is this: The fear among employees in myriad professions. That extends well beyond Wall Street. Of course, that's counterproductive, if the fear remains fear. The fear can be transformed into unique insights into your specific circumstances and how you can spot and exploit the opportunities in them.

Yes, those could be embedded in a layoff or accepting a package. Events in a career are never standalone. They all are inconnected with what's going on in you, in your organization, and in macro forces.
